 Donkey to Man

Dear children! A potter lived in a village and he had two sons. Ishmael and Shafiq, Ismail was wise while Shafiq was a fool. It was his livelihood. As time went on, his sons became young. His eldest son used to make pottery with him and also go to the city to sell it. Her sister, who was married and her name was Jero Mai, would come and cook for them. Jiro Mai advised her brother to marry the two of them now so that they would realize their responsibility from time to time.

The potter married the two sons and now the expenses have gone up the potter also started getting sick so he made pottery with samosas and potato bread. His business flourished. After some time, the potter passed away and all the responsibility of the house fell on Ismail because Shafiq was not able to work. Tell Shafiq if it doesn't work then we will move away from here. His intellect will come to an end on its own, so Ismail went to his father-in-law with his children and started working hard. Meanwhile, Shafiq's savings were running out. The wife said, "We have nothing left but this donkey, and we have no offspring to earn and feed us. You are no longer my brother Ishmael. And it will become the support of our old age.

Shafiq was very happy to hear this. Then make a donkey bag and drop it off at school. He hung a cloth bag around the donkey's neck and started walking towards the school. Naseema, who was a hard-working woman working in people's homes, also laughed openly when she saw the bag hanging around the donkey's neck. The couple reached the school gate with the donkey. The donkey stopped at the school gate after seeing so many children ahead. The couple pushed him inside and brought the children inside. Then they went to Master Khalid. Master Khalid said, "Yes, how did Bhai Shafiq come?"

Shafiq said: Master Sahib, make our donkey human by reading and writing so that it can be our support in old age. Master Khalid Sahib was a smart man and he knew these two fools very well. Master Khalid began to say why not but his fee will be charged. By the way, our fee is more but you paid only five thousand rupees for the whole year. They left the donkey and returned home. They did not have much money. They sold their wheelbarrow and paid the fee to Master Sahib. Then they returned home happily. Two years passed and then Shafiq thought that now my donkey must have become human. Now we bring him home.

Why not now your donkey has become a police inspector but I have done this job with great effort. I named him "Shamo". You two go to such and such a police station. There is a Shamo inspector. They are both very happy. They both went to meet the inspector. When asked, he pointed to the front. Shafiq saw that he was sitting in a chair in the sun. The couple was very happy to see their son and sat on the ground in front of him a short distance away. The inspector glanced at them and then at the other. When he saw it again, Shafiq pulled out the donkey's rope and started waving it in front of him.

Inspector Shamo got upset and started thinking about why these two are acting crazy. He called them both to him and then asked what is the matter of why you two are doing these actions. So Shafiq said, "Son, why didn't you recognize us both? You used to be donkeys, then we admitted you to school. That's how you became human. Now you don't even recognize us? Tell me the whole thing from the beginning." The inspector began to say. So Shafiq told the whole thing. 

The inspector said take me to Master Khalid then Shafiq and his wife brought him to Master Khalid. The inspector said that both of them are very innocent and simple. You have spared no effort to make them more foolish. Then they said to Shafiq, "Look, if human beings do not read, they become fools like donkeys, but donkeys can never become human beings. Your donkey is with this master. Master was very ashamed and apologized to Shafiq Kumar. The fee payers also returned it. Then Inspector Shamo took him to his house and became his son and started sponsoring him.

گدھے سے انسان

پیارے بچو! ایک گاؤں میں ایک کمہار رہتا تھا اس کے دو بیٹے تھے۔ اسماعیل اور شفیق، اسماعیل عقلمند تھا جبکہ شفیق احمق تھا۔ یہ اس کا ذریعہ معاش تھا۔ وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ اس کے بیٹے جوان ہوتے گئے۔ اس کا بڑا بیٹا اس کے ساتھ مٹی کے برتن بناتا تھا اور اسے بیچنے شہر بھی جاتا تھا۔ اس کی بہن، جو شادی شدہ تھی اور اس کا نام جیرو مائی تھا، ان کے لیے کھانا پکاتی تھی۔ جیرو مائی نے اپنے بھائی کو مشورہ دیا کہ اب ان دونوں کی شادی کر دیں تاکہ انہیں وقتاً فوقتاً اپنی ذمہ داری کا احساس ہو۔

کمہار نے دونوں بیٹوں کی شادی کر دی اور اب اخراجات بڑھ گئے اور کمہار بھی بیمار رہنے لگا تو اس نے سموسے اور آلو کی روٹی سے مٹی کے برتن بنائے۔ اس کا کاروبار خوب پھلا پھولا۔ کچھ عرصے بعد کمہار کا انتقال ہو گیا اور گھر کی تمام ذمہ داری اسماعیل پر آ گئی کیونکہ شفیق کام کرنے کے قابل نہیں تھا۔ شفیق سے کہو اگر کام نہ ہوا تو ہم یہاں سے چلے جائیں گے۔ اس کی عقل خود ہی ختم ہو جائے گی، چنانچہ اسماعیل اپنے بچوں کے ساتھ سسرال گیا اور محنت مزدوری کرنے لگا۔ ادھر شفیق کی بچت ختم ہو رہی تھی۔ بیوی نے کہا کہ ہمارے پاس اس گدھے کے سوا کچھ نہیں بچا اور ہمارے پاس کمانے اور کھلانے کے لیے کوئی اولاد نہیں ہے، اب تم میرے بھائی اسماعیل نہیں رہے اور یہ ہمارے بڑھاپے کا سہارا بنے گا۔

شفیق یہ سن کر بہت خوش ہوا۔ پھر گدھے کا تھیلا بنا کر سکول میں چھوڑ دیں۔ اس نے کپڑے کا تھیلا گدھے کے گلے میں لٹکایا اور سکول کی طرف چلنے لگا۔ لوگوں کے گھروں میں کام کرنے والی محنتی خاتون نسیمہ بھی گدھے کے گلے میں لٹکا تھیلا دیکھ کر کھلکھلا کر ہنس پڑیں۔ جوڑا گدھے کو لے کر سکول کے گیٹ پر پہنچا۔ اتنے بچوں کو آگے دیکھ کر گدھا سکول کے گیٹ پر رک گیا۔ جوڑے نے اسے اندر دھکیل دیا اور بچوں کو اندر لے آئے۔ پھر وہ ماسٹر خالد کے پاس گئے۔ ماسٹر خالد نے کہا ہاں بھائی شفیق کیسے آئے؟

شفیق نے کہا: ماسٹر صاحب ہمارے گدھے کو پڑھ لکھ کر انسان بنائیں تاکہ بڑھاپے میں ہمارا سہارا بن سکے۔ ماسٹر خالد صاحب ذہین آدمی تھے اور وہ ان دونوں احمقوں کو اچھی طرح جانتے تھے۔ ماسٹر خالد کہنے لگا کیوں نہیں لیکن اس کی فیس لی جائے گی۔ ویسے تو ہماری فیس زیادہ ہے لیکن آپ نے پورے سال کے لیے صرف پانچ ہزار روپے دیے۔ وہ گدھے کو چھوڑ کر گھر واپس آگئے۔ ان کے پاس زیادہ پیسے نہیں تھے۔ انہوں نے اپنی گاڑی بیچ دی اور فیس ماسٹر صاحب کو ادا کر دی۔ پھر خوشی خوشی گھر لوٹے۔

دو سال گزر گئے اور پھر شفیق نے سوچا کہ اب میرا گدھا انسان بن گیا ہوگا۔ اب ہم اسے گھر لے آتے ہیں۔ کیوں نہ اب تمہارا گدھا پولیس انسپکٹر بن گیا ہے لیکن میں نے یہ کام بڑی محنت سے کیا ہے۔ میں نے اس کا نام ’’شمو‘‘ رکھا۔ تم دونوں فلاں تھانے جاؤ۔ شامو انسپکٹر ہے۔ وہ دونوں بہت خوش ہیں۔ وہ دونوں انسپکٹر سے ملنے گئے۔ پوچھنے پر اس نے سامنے کی طرف اشارہ کیا۔ شفیق نے دیکھا کہ وہ دھوپ میں کرسی پر بیٹھا ہے۔ جوڑے اپنے بیٹے کو دیکھ کر بہت خوش ہوئے اور تھوڑی دور اس کے سامنے زمین پر بیٹھ گئے۔ انسپکٹر نے ان کی طرف دیکھا اور پھر دوسری طرف۔

اس نے دوبارہ دیکھا تو شفیق نے گدھے کی رسی نکالی اور اس کے سامنے لہرانے لگا۔ انسپکٹر شمو پریشان ہو گیا اور سوچنے لگا کہ یہ دونوں پاگلوں کی طرح کیوں کر رہے ہیں۔ اس نے دونوں کو اپنے پاس بلایا اور پھر پوچھا کہ کیا بات ہے تم دونوں یہ حرکتیں کیوں کر رہے ہو؟ تو شفیق نے کہا بیٹا تم نے ہم دونوں کو پہچانا کیوں نہیں؟ تم گدھے ہوا کرتے تھے، پھر ہم نے تمہیں اسکول میں داخل کروایا، اس طرح تم انسان بن گئے، اب تم ہمیں پہچانتے بھی نہیں ہو، مجھے پوری بات بتاؤ۔ شروعات." انسپکٹر کہنے لگا۔ تو شفیق نے ساری بات بتا دی۔

انسپکٹر نے کہا مجھے ماسٹر خالد کے پاس لے چلو پھر شفیق اور اس کی بیوی اسے ماسٹر خالد کے پاس لے آئے۔ انسپکٹر نے کہا کہ یہ دونوں بہت معصوم اور سادہ ہیں۔ آپ نے انہیں مزید بے وقوف بنانے میں کوئی کسر نہیں چھوڑی۔ پھر شفیق سے کہنے لگے دیکھو اگر انسان نہ پڑھے تو گدھے کی طرح بے وقوف بن جاتے ہیں لیکن گدھا کبھی انسان نہیں بن سکتا، تمہارا گدھا اس ماسٹر کے پاس ہے، ماسٹر صاحب بہت شرمندہ ہوئے اور شفیق کمار سے معافی مانگی۔ فیس دینے والے۔ اسے بھی واپس کر دیا، پھر انسپکٹر شمو اسے اپنے گھر لے گیا اور اس کا بیٹا بن کر اس کی کفالت کرنے لگا۔
