 Abul Qasim's Shoes

A long time ago, there lived a merchant in Baghdad. His name was Abul Qasim. He was very stingy. Abul Qasim was happy and worried day and night that somehow this wealth would continue to grow. All of Baghdad knew that Abul Qasim was a rich man, but Abul Qasim would tell everyone that he was very poor and ate dry food, his clothes were everywhere. His shoes were patched so that even beggars would have better shoes than them. These shoes were repaired so many times that the original leather disappeared and the patch was visible. Abul Qasim's friends used to say to him, He defeated the beggars too, brother, give up these shoes and buy new ones.

"Abul Qasim would say. Wow, now it will go on longer. Abul Qasim used to go to the market every day, wearing the same old, torn old shoes, selling old goods, buying new ones, and earning good profit. His wealth was increasing. One day, Abul Qasim bought many bottles. Then he bought the best perfume. Abul Qasim came home with bottles and perfume. He filled the bottles and happily said, "Ah, I will earn a lot of money by selling this." He was bursting with happiness. One day he thought. Why not go to a magnificent bath and take a bath? When Abul Qasim went to take a bath in the bath, he left his shoes outside, along with another person who also went to take a bath in the adjacent bathroom and kept his shoes with his shoes.

When Abul Qasim came out, he saw new and clean shoes matching his shoes, so he was happy that he had got the same shoes. He came home wearing these shoes. After that, the sweeper came he changed the order of the shoes so Abul Qasim put on Kotwal's shoes and went home. Abul Qasim's shoes were famous all over the city, when the Kotwal came out, his shoes were missing. On the other hand, Kotwal recognized these shoes and became furious, his soldiers secretly searched the bathhouse, but the shoes were not found. Kotwal ordered that Abul Qasim should be arrested and produced immediately. This miser stole our shoes instead of buying new shoes. 

The soldiers arrested Abul Qasim and took him to the Kotwal. Kotwal fined him 1000 rupees. Because of this, Abul Qasim was infamous in all of Baghdad and he was very shocked to be fined 1000 rupees.  The shoes were found in the river. The other day, a fisherman put a net in the river and when the fish got stuck, he took the net out, but what did he do? Along with the fish, Abul Qasim's shoes were also in the net. The fisherman was so angry that he picked up the shoes and threw them inside Abul Qasim's window There were perfume bottles on the table near the window, the shoes fell on the bottles, the bottles fell on the floor and all the perfume was spilled. Poor Abul Qasim sat down holding his head. A plan came to my mind and I was happy that it will be fine. 

I will press them into the ground. Abul Qasim went to the garden and dug a big hole and pressed the shoes into the ground. By chance, a neighbor was passing outside his garden. He secretly saw the whole scene where Abul Qasim was pressing something on the ground. The neighbor said in his heart, "This miser must have found some treasure while he is digging the ground. I will go and tell the minister." The neighbor went and told the minister. The minister called Abul Qasim and asked him where the treasure is. Abul Qasim said what kind of treasure? I was pressing my shoes into the ground, and the minister said, "A fool also presses shoes into the ground? Surely you have found some treasure. Tell me the truth, otherwise, I will give you a punishment that will be remembered for a lifetime.

"Abul Qasim kept shouting and swearing, but the minister did not agree and fined him 10,000. Abul Qasim came home crying and beating himself. They needed to throw it somewhere where no one could see it. The next day, Abul Qasim got up early in the morning and went away from the city where there was a pond. Abul Qasim threw the shoes into the pond and looked at the shoes until they were well submerged in pond. When he came home, that pond was not an ordinary pond. Water was delivered to Baghdad through a pipe from this pond, and the same water was used by the whole city. The people could not find a single drop of water, there was chaos in the whole city, the king's soldiers ran to the pond, two men sat in a boat and explored the pond, and found shoes in their hands. 

This time poor Abul Qasim was jailed for one month and was also fined Rs.15. As luck would have it, behind Abul Qasim, his dog also came up. Abul Qasim placed the shoes on the platform, and the dog started playing with them while playing. , the king's soldiers recognized the shoe and dragged Abul Qasim to the judge, this time Abul Qasim was fined so heavily that he became poor. He shouted and said to the Qazi. The shoes have caused me a lot of pain. I am devastated. I request that if the shoes make a mess again, don't blame me. Abul Qasim's request was accepted and Abul Qasim came home. Now he was poor, but he was wise. The first thing he did was to buy new shoes.

ابوالقاسم کے جوتے

بہت عرصہ پہلے بغداد میں ایک سوداگر رہتا تھا۔ اس کا نام ابوالقاسم تھا۔ وہ بہت کنجوس تھا۔ ابوالقاسم دن رات خوش اور پریشان تھا کہ کسی طرح یہ دولت بڑھتی رہے گی۔ سارے بغداد کو معلوم تھا کہ ابوالقاسم ایک امیر آدمی ہے، لیکن ابوالقاسم سب کو بتاتا کہ وہ بہت غریب ہے اور خشک کھانا کھاتا ہے، اس کے کپڑے ہر جگہ تھے۔ اس کے جوتوں کو پیوند لگا دیا گیا تاکہ بھکاریوں کے پاس بھی ان سے بہتر جوتے ہوں۔ ان جوتوں کی اتنی بار مرمت کی گئی کہ اصلی چمڑا غائب ہو گیا اور پیچ نظر آنے لگا۔ ابوالقاسم کے دوست اسے کہتے تھے، اس نے بھکاریوں کو بھی شکست دی، بھائی یہ جوتے چھوڑ دو اور نئے خرید لو۔

"ابوالقاسم کہتا تھا، واہ، اب یہ لمبا چلے گا۔ ابوالقاسم روزانہ وہی پرانے، پھٹے پرانے جوتے پہن کر بازار جاتا، پرانا سامان بیچتا، نیا خریدتا اور خوب نفع کماتا۔ ایک دن ابوالقاسم نے بہت سی بوتلیں خریدیں پھر اس نے بہترین عطر خریدا، ابوالقاسم بوتلیں اور عطر لے کر گھر آیا، اس نے بوتلیں بھریں اور خوشی سے بولا، "آہ، میں اسے بیچ کر بہت پیسہ کماؤں گا۔ وہ خوشی سے پھٹ رہا تھا، ایک دن اس نے سوچا کیوں نہ کسی شاندار حمام میں جا کر نہا لیا جائے، ابوالقاسم جب حمام میں نہانے گیا تو اس نے اپنے جوتے باہر ہی چھوڑ دیے، اس کے ساتھ ایک اور شخص بھی چلا گیا۔ ملحقہ باتھ روم میں نہایا اور اپنے جوتے اپنے جوتے کے ساتھ رکھے۔

ابوالقاسم جب باہر آیا تو اس نے اپنے جوتوں کے ساتھ نئے اور صاف ستھرے جوتے دیکھے تو وہ خوش ہوا کہ اسے وہی جوتے ملے ہیں۔ وہ یہ جوتے پہن کر گھر آیا۔ اس کے بعد جھاڑو دینے والا آیا اس نے جوتوں کی ترتیب بدل دی تو ابوالقاسم نے کوتوال کے جوتے پہنائے اور گھر چلا گیا۔ ابوالقاسم کے جوتے شہر بھر میں مشہور تھے، کوتوال باہر نکلا تو اس کے جوتے غائب تھے۔ دوسری طرف کوتوال نے ان جوتوں کو پہچان لیا اور غصے میں آگئے، اس کے سپاہیوں نے چپکے سے حمام کی تلاشی لی لیکن جوتے نہ ملے۔ کوتوال نے حکم دیا کہ ابوالقاسم کو فوراً گرفتار کر کے پیش کیا جائے۔ اس کنجوس نے نئے جوتے خریدنے کی بجائے ہمارے جوتے چرا لیے۔

سپاہی ابوالقاسم کو گرفتار کر کے کوتوال لے گئے۔ کوتوال نے اسے 1000 روپے جرمانہ کیا۔ اس کی وجہ سے ابوالقاسم پورے بغداد میں بدنام ہوا اور اسے ایک ہزار روپے جرمانے کا بہت صدمہ ہوا۔ جوتے دریا میں مل گئے۔ دوسرے دن ایک مچھیرے نے دریا میں جال ڈالا اور جب مچھلی پھنس گئی تو اس نے جال نکال لیا لیکن اس نے کیا کیا؟ مچھلی کے ساتھ ابوالقاسم کے جوتے بھی جال میں تھے۔ مچھیرے کو اتنا غصہ آیا کہ اس نے جوتے اٹھا کر ابوالقاسم کی کھڑکی کے اندر پھینک دیے کھڑکی کے پاس میز پر عطر کی بوتلیں پڑی تھیں، جوتے بوتلوں پر گرے، بوتلیں فرش پر گریں اور تمام عطر بکھر گئے۔ بیچارہ ابوالقاسم سر پکڑ کر بیٹھ گیا۔ میرے ذہن میں ایک منصوبہ آیا اور میں خوش ہوا کہ ٹھیک ہو جائے گا۔

میں انہیں زمین میں دبا دوں گا۔ ابوالقاسم باغ میں گیا اور ایک بڑا گڑھا کھودا اور جوتے زمین میں دبائے۔ اتفاق سے ایک پڑوسی اس کے باغ کے باہر سے گزر رہا تھا۔ اس نے چپکے سے سارا منظر دیکھا جہاں ابوالقاسم زمین پر کوئی چیز دبا رہا تھا۔ پڑوسی نے دل میں کہا کہ اس کنجوس کو زمین کھودتے ہوئے کوئی خزانہ ملا ہو گا میں جا کر وزیر کو بتاتا ہوں۔ پڑوسی نے جا کر وزیر سے کہا۔ وزیر نے ابوالقاسم کو بلایا اور پوچھا کہ خزانہ کہاں ہے؟ ابوالقاسم نے کہا کیسا خزانہ؟ میں اپنے جوتے زمین میں دبا رہا تھا کہ وزیر نے کہا کہ احمق بھی جوتے زمین میں دباتا ہے، تمہیں ضرور کوئی خزانہ مل گیا ہے، سچ بتاؤ، ورنہ میں تمہیں ایسی سزا دوں گا جو یاد رہے گا۔ زندگی بھر.

"ابوالقاسم چیختا رہا اور قسمیں کھاتا رہا، لیکن وزیر راضی نہ ہوا اور اسے 10 ہزار جرمانہ کر دیا۔ ابوالقاسم روتا ہوا گھر آیا اور خود کو پیٹتا رہا۔ انہیں اسے کہیں پھینکنا پڑا جہاں کوئی اسے نہ دیکھ سکے۔ اگلے دن ابوالقاسم صبح سویرے اٹھا۔ صبح سویرے شہر سے چلے گئے جہاں ایک تالاب تھا ابوالقاسم نے جوتے تالاب میں پھینکے اور جوتے دیکھتا رہا یہاں تک کہ وہ تالاب میں ڈوب گئے جب گھر آیا تو وہ تالاب کوئی عام تالاب نہیں تھا۔ اس تالاب سے ایک پائپ کے ذریعے بغداد پہنچایا گیا، اور یہی پانی سارا شہر استعمال کرتا تھا، لوگوں کو پانی کا ایک قطرہ بھی نہ ملا، پورے شہر میں افراتفری مچ گئی، بادشاہ کے سپاہی تالاب کی طرف بھاگے، دو۔ مردوں نے کشتی میں بیٹھ کر تالاب کا جائزہ لیا، اور ان کے ہاتھوں میں جوتے ملے۔

اس بار غریب ابوالقاسم کو ایک ماہ کی جیل ہوئی اور 15 روپے جرمانہ بھی ہوا۔ خوش قسمتی سے ابوالقاسم کے پیچھے اس کا کتا بھی چڑھ آیا۔ ابوالقاسم نے جوتے چبوترے پر رکھے اور کتا کھیلتے کھیلتے ان سے کھیلنے لگا۔ بادشاہ کے سپاہیوں نے جوتا پہچان لیا اور ابوالقاسم کو گھسیٹ کر جج کے پاس لے گئے، اس بار ابوالقاسم پر اتنا بھاری جرمانہ کیا گیا کہ وہ کنگال ہو گیا۔ اس نے چلا کر قاضی سے کہا۔ جوتوں نے مجھے بہت تکلیف دی ہے۔ میں تباہ ہو گیا ہوں۔ میری گزارش ہے کہ اگر جوتے دوبارہ گڑبڑ کرتے ہیں تو مجھے الزام نہ دیں۔ ابوالقاسم کی درخواست قبول ہوئی اور ابوالقاسم گھر آگیا۔ اب وہ غریب تھا، لیکن وہ ڈبلیو تھا۔ اس نے سب سے پہلے نئے جوتے خریدے۔
